Why your ADHD feels harder since becoming a mum (and what to do about it)...

Hi Reader,

This morning I opened the fridge three times and still forgot what I was looking for.
I stepped over a pile of laundry I was “definitely about to hang out” about three times.
I had “write this email” at the top of my mental to-do list… and yet somehow, I was looking at summer tops in the online sale five minutes later.

Sound familiar?

If you’ve had days where you know you want to get things done - where the list is there, the intentions are big, the plans are wild - but you just… can’t get going, then I’ve got news for you:

You’re not lazy.
You’re not lacking willpower.
You’re most likely dysregulated.

Which, let’s be honest, is massively inconvenient.
Especially when everyone else around you seems to be functioning “as normal.”

You might’ve noticed it’s got worse since becoming a mum, or hitting your 30s or 40s - and no, that’s not your imagination. That’s life + hormones + invisible labour + actual birth-related labour (OK I threw that in but seriously… it has to count, right?), overstimulation… all colliding in your nervous system (or your internal operating system if you like!).

So what's going on?

Motherhood basically removes all the scaffolding that once helped you cope. BOOM.
Sleep? Gone.
Quiet alone time? LOL.
Routines you control? Only if you think you're the boss of a tiny CEO in a Peppa Pig onesie.

Meanwhile, estrogen - which helps regulate dopamine (aka the brain chemical that supports motivation and focus) - starts to fluctuate. That impacts mood, attention, memory, and your ability to emotionally “hold your sh*t together.”

So when you feel snappy, scattered, or fully shut down - it’s not a personal failure.
It’s your nervous system waving a little red flag and asking (screaming) for support.

In this week’s blog, I talk about:

  • Why motivation isn’t the issue
  • What’s actually happening when you freeze or spiral
  • How yoga can help
  • 4 small but mighty ways to help your system back into full operational mode

I’ve also created a do-it-your-way, no-pressure 3-Day Calm Down Kit full of ADHD-friendly supports that help you reset without needing to change your entire life or take on mountains of information. If you haven’t grabbed it yet, now’s the time. And if you have then I REALLY hope it’s been helpful! I’ll be back soon with the next phase to keep us moving on this very real, very human ADHD journey.

📖 Read the blog + grab the Calm Down Kit

Because you don’t need another motivational pep talk.
You need support that meets you where you are and helps your brain find its footing again.

You’ve got this.
And I’ve got you.

Off to get my coffee out of the microwave (again),
